New York Fashion Week is glamorous, alluring, electrifying and at times, it can be, (to put it mildly,) down right exhausting! The second day of fashion week was a busy one for me—full of backstage interviews, party soirees, and networking events. And as fashion editor, I knew that I not only had to look the part, but I had to come with candor and full of energy.

But by the time I stepped outside of the taxi in my gold glitter pumps, and made my way into the coveted tents, I literally became thrust into the excitement of it all—the click-flash, the glamazons, and the whimsical fashions. So as you can imagine, by the time I took to second row at George Chakra’s show, I was ripped and ready to go. The exotic silhouettes and satin cocktail dresses with grosgrain straps from Chakra’s collection intrigued me and left me anticipating more.

I got more back stage, and rubbed elbows with the designer himself and his entire team. As I exited the show and headed back into the main tent, a lethal wave of exhaustion hit me. I felt as if my energy had been deflated, and I quickly realized that skipping coffee that morning hadn’t been the greatest idea. I found myself desperately searching for a quick pick me up to get me through the rest of the shows I had to cover that day.

I looked to my right and saw my saving grace—Starbucks. Who ever thought of adding a Starbucks Lounge inside the tents was a genius! I flopped down in a chair and espied the lounge for a familiar face.

Eboyne Jackson Fashion Editor for D.A.M. MagazineThere wasn’t one so I opted for a friendly face instead. Mary Ann Rementilla, one of the assistant publicists in affiliation with Starbucks rushed to my side with an amiable smile, beckoning for me to try Starbuck’s latest Frappuccino Vanilla Light. She promised that the Frappuccino Light would give me just the right amount of fuel I would need to get through my show’s that day.

I obliged and took a sip. Now usually, I am skeptical about coffee drinks, especially anything with the word “light” in it, as I took note that the drink was made with Splenda.

Interestingly enough, my first sip turned into a pause, and then my pause turned into quick gulps. Ahhh. This was. . . .good!! The Starbucks Frappucino Light had no funny, weird Splenda after taste as most things made out of Splenda usually do. The drink was sweet and luscious, and gave me an instant boost of energy. It was creamy, light, and delicious; perfect for a jet setter on the move.

STARBUCKS FRAPPUCCINOIf I had to choose one word to describe it, it would be fabulous.

But what realty turned me into a believer was the fact that the delicious Frappuccino Vanilla Light is prepared the same way as the original, but with less fat and sugar. According to Starbucks, the Light has 54% of the calories, 15% of the fat, and 52% of the carbohydrates than the original. The delicious delight only has 100 calories, perfect for maintaining a sleek physique without the guilt!

I was hooked. My visit to the Starbucks lounge during New York Fashion Week didn’t just end on that day’s first visit. It continued up until day seven, as the tents reveled its last spotlight until next season.

The sip of opulence of Starbuck’s Frappuccino Light literally saved my life during fashion week. It got me through the fast-paced world of the glitz and the glam, and by the end of fashion week, I was convinced that the runway wasn’t the only thing shinning.
